Foundation (current position)
I lead the development of a tendon-based hand at Foundation. I started from zero in August 2025 and laid out the system's architecture during my first six months at the company. I'm currently leading a team spanning mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to bring the hand to production.
The main priors guiding my design work are:
- Hands are a new type of robotic hardware because of the level of articulation and power density they require. First-principles thinking is more important than experience.
- Tendons win the endgame. All other architectures fall short on dexterity (reachable poses) or strength (force authority in those poses). Both are needed to perform on par with humans.
- To converge on a working solution, many small steps are better than fewer, well-thought-out ones. “Make it exist first. You can make it good later.”
Tesla
Before Foundation I worked at Tesla for 2 years as a Technical Program Manager. I helped develop the first tendon driven hand for Optimus and a few vehicle charging technologies.
Working (relatively) close to Elon taught me a lot about:
- Defining bigger goals: “Build something civilization needs”, as opposed to YC's “Build something people want”.
- Building a financially viable roadmap to the ultimate goal, with profitable intermediate milestones (see the Secret Master Plan). This pattern is shared by all of Elon's companies.
- Pursuing progress relentlessly and with a sense of urgency, while rejecting industry priors. Physics is the law; everything else is a recommendation.
GE Aerospace
Before moving to the US, I worked for three years at GE Aerospace, graduating from a rotational program in manufacturing operations (OMLP). Building aircraft engines was my introduction to manufacturing and taught me a lot about how complex things are made.
